We want to make it easy for you to find your niche and even easier for you to connect with the appropriate person to start your journey with AIA East Kentucky! Below is a list of opportunities to service your local component. Welcome!
Design Slam
Design Slam is a fun, interactive, compact event where teams compete to create the best design in an hour! The audience votes on the teams and partakes in the silent auction to collect proceeds to benefit AIA and a charitable partner. The committee is in charge of securing silent auction donations, selecting venue, and developing the design challenge. Please contact Committee Chair, Holly Wood, AIA to begin serving on the Design Slam committee. Event is slated for Spring 2025.
Government Affairs
This committee facilitates communication between the architectural community and the government at the local and state levels. Members of this committee work to build relationships with representatives to ensure we are able to provide a voice, expertise, and assistance to our members when issues arise. In addition to working with government officials, members are expected to be in communication and coordinate engagement with AIA KY and the Kentucky Society of Architects political Action Committee. Please contact Robert Barnhart, AIA to begin serving on the Government Affairs committee.
Youth Outreach/Engagement
This committee promotes our chapter and the profession within our local community. The youth outreach component focuses on providing opportunities and information to help educate students in our community on the profession and provide experiences to help inspire the next generation of architects. The long term goal is to establish opportunities and programs within local schools. Please contact Committee Chair Chris Gipson, AIA to being serving on the Youth Outreach/Engagement committee.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
This committee’s purpose is to strengthen a culture of belonging, engage the voices and actions of AIA East Kentucky’s members to promote inclusion, and support members with diverse backgrounds. Please contact AIA East Kentucky President Brittany Leneave, AIA to begin serving on this committee.
Communications
The Communications committee facilitates a streamlined avenue for AIA East Kentucky members to learn about highlights regarding the local profession as well as encouraging involvement with the professional community.
