The project is an adaptive reuse and extensive interior & exterior renovation of an existing, pre-engineered, metal warehouse building to provide a new community hub and market.

This is not a formalist architectural project. The ‘look’ is secondary to how the social and community needs are met by the building. The aesthetic is derived from modest interventions that maximize the extremely limited budget.

The larger goal of the project is to act as an incubator for area food and merchandise vendors with the hope that they may eventually establish a permanent storefront presence in the neighborhood.

Additional Information

“Playfulness and delight elevate this modest building into a cheerful and colorful community builder. We’re drawn into the market and one can immediately imagine the sounds and smells of this vibrant social space. The clever addition of the mezzanine offers additional sidewalk direct venue space and an internal vantage point to enjoy the energy within.”– Jury Comment
